What's Happening?

EDIT: Gartree have emailed out an extra edition of their FAQ in response to questions they have already received. You can view it here.

Manor High School and Gartree High School in Oadby are consulting on changes to their age ranges.

Both High Schools currently teach ages 10 to 13 or years 6 to 9. Both schools want to teach ages 11 to 16 or years 7 to 11. This would now include year 11 qualifications such as GCSEs.

Beauchamp College is also consulting on changes to their age range. The college wishes to move from teaching years 10 to 13 to years 7 to 13. Year group size would drop from approximately 500 to approximately 300.

The proposed changes will affect children currently in the system in many ways- see How it Will Affect My Child. As we understand it, a major change will be to halve the number of 6th form places while increasing the number of 11 - 16 places by half. Students at Gartree and Manor will no longer have a route into Beauchamp but may have to find 16+ provision outside of Oadby.

The deadline for parents and local residents to respond the consultation by Manor, Gartree and Beauchamp is the end of February 2015.

Local primary schools will likely have to expand their provision to teach year 6. Currently most teach up to year 5. If they decide to teach year 6, primary schools will also start to consult parents and the local community over the coming weeks on any changes.

The consultation documents are on the schools' web sites:
